Equine Assisted Therapy

Equine Assisted Therapy

Horses are naturally social, calm, and cooperative animals. Like humans, they need connection and relationships to feel safe and well.

Because horses are prey animals, they live very much in the present moment. They rely on their senses and respond to what is happening around them right now. Unlike humans, horses don’t overthink or analyse situations — they respond honestly and instinctively.

Horses are highly sensitive to our emotions and nervous systems. They can pick up on changes in our heart rate, body language, posture, and facial expressions. In this way, horses often reflect how we are feeling on the inside, even when we may not be fully aware of it ourselves.

Equine Assisted Therapy at Silver Horse

Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) at Silver Horse offers gentle, supported sessions where members of the herd may interact with you. Sessions can include simple guided activities, or quiet time spent observing or being with one horse or the herd as a whole.

Horses naturally seek genuine connection that goes beyond words. Working with them in a therapeutic way can help you to:

  • Become aware of emotions you may be holding inside

  • Make sense of confusing or overwhelming feelings

  • Calm and regulate your nervous system

  • Support healing from trauma

  • Build greater self-awareness

  • Improve communication skills

  • Grow confidence and self-trust

No riding is involved, and no previous experience with horses is needed. Sessions are shaped around each individual, and we focus on creating a safe, respectful, and supportive space for both you and the horses.

A Respectful Environment for the Herd

Our horses live in a species-appropriate environment where they are free to be horses. They have strong social bonds, plenty of space to move, constant access to forage, and the choice to eat, rest, and socialise when they wish. This way of living supports their emotional and mental wellbeing.

By caring for the horses in this way, we ensure they are comfortable and willing participants. This creates the foundation for meaningful, authentic connections and a therapeutic experience that is safe, ethical, and deeply supportive.

Equine Assisted Therapy sessions are £80 for 60 mins. We offer a low cost taster session for £50.
