Supporting Young People Through Equine Assisted Therapy

With a background in working with vulnerable children, I am passionate about supporting young people to recognise, understand, and communicate their feelings and emotions. I believe these skills are key foundations for healthy relationships, self-awareness, and good mental health as young people transition into adulthood.

Equine Assisted Therapy offers young people a calm, supportive space to explore their emotions in a way that feels safe and non-judgemental. Spending time with horses and being outdoors in nature can help young people learn to regulate their emotions, express themselves more freely, build confidence, and develop healthy boundaries. Horses are naturally grounded and place no expectations on clients, allowing young people to feel accepted just as they are.

This therapeutic approach is particularly helpful for young people who find it difficult to talk about their experiences. Horses support the processing of difficult or overwhelming emotions in a gentle, contained way, without relying solely on verbal communication.

Therapy at Silver Horse

Sessions are tailored to each young person and are gently guided by me as the therapist. They are often creative, playful, and reflective, offering opportunities for insight, emotional growth, and increased self-awareness.

I have worked alongside the Local Authority and the YMCA, and I am currently a member of the Professional Therapeutic Partnership. Through this work, I support young people who have struggled to engage with more traditional forms of therapy.

We are able to accept referrals from parents, carers and agencies working with young people age 10 and over. Please call or email for more Information on prices and funding or a referral form.
